Der Oberbürgermeister der Großen Kreisstadt Glauchau ließ es sich nicht nehmen, seiner Amtskollegin einen netten Brief zu schreiben, der von unseren Polizisten persönlich in Lynchburg, VA übergeben wird.

Hier der Wortlaut:

Dear Mrs Foster,

Detective Chief Superindent Matthias Urbansky and his collegue R. Haller from the Glauchau Police Department have been in Lynchburg since the 17^th of May and will be staying for ten more days. During their stay they are going to visit their collegues from the Lynchburg Police Department in order to hold talks and exchange experiences. It is their noble aim to make contacts and establish friendly relations in this field as well.

Public safety and order are currently gaining more and more importance and are essential for concerted action. Thus I am particularly fond of this unique opportunity to get an insight in the examplary work of the US police forces. We gladly remember your Vice Mayor’s, Mr Bert Dodson’s, visit to Glauchau in September 2009 during which the first contacts in this respect were made.

Mr Urbansky and Mr Haller are both members of the Glauchau association of the “Friends of Lynchburg” which takes a firm stand in the understanding and further development of  friendly relations between both our cities. The “Friends of Lynchburg” have – since their foundation in 2004 – organized numerous student exchanges and established contacts between various institutions. At the same time a lot of personal friendships have emerged. I take personal pride in the fact that our partnership is so intensively and exemplarily enlivened.

On that note I do wish both our represantatives, Mr Urbansky and Mr Haller, unforgettable days in your wonderful city filled with lasting impressions and plenty of  invigorating talks with our friends from Lynchburg.
